Town Danceboutique - DC's Largest Gay Nightclub
Town Danceboutique opened on November 17th, 2007 and was the largest gay danceclub in Washington, D.C. until it closed on July 1st, 2018. It was a combination of a cabaret performance space, a plush lounge, a massive outdoor patio, and a high energy danceclub. There were two floors, multiple rooms, multiple outside smoking areas, an amazing video installation, state of the art LED lighting, and multiple dancefloors and seating areas.
Your club experience at Town consisted of multiple performance oriented productions...Extensive drag shows that featured big production numbers, comedy sketches and amazing outfits…Our own in house dance troupe performing multiple choreographed routines…The Friday night go-go boys…Surprise performance artists...and nationally recognized performers and djs. In addition, we combined the hottest current lighting and special effects that, when added to our enormous video installation, provided spectacular visual excitement all night.
(Because there seems to be some confusion, we would like to state unequivocally that Town did not in any way choose to close. Our landlord sold the building to a new entity who terminated Town's lease and we were forced out so that the location could be developed into apartments. We would have loved nothing more than to remain in operation for another decade if we had been given the chance. )
Town hosted many different events.
Fridays
Fridays were our 18 and over night • GoGo boys after 11pm • Music upstairs by Wess & downstairs by BacK2bACk
Saturdays
Saturdays hosted a rotating list of performers, djs, and theme parties
Patio
The Town Patio was a place to enjoy drinks, fresh air, and relax. The expansive 4000 square foot outdoor space was remarkably unique and comfortable with a full service bar serving drinks and multiple draught beer selections. The Patio created an even more dynamic, multi-faceted club experience - your night could be a relaxing escape of late night drinking and socializing under the stars.
Drag Show
On Firday and Saturday night, Town proudly hosted DC's premier Drag Show. A cabaret style performance featuring the area’s top female-illusionist entertainers. Unlike many “drag” shows, Town offered a wide range of performance styles - from classic female illusion - to all out comedy - to amazingly choreographed production numbers. And, often there were guest performers from RuPaul's Drag Race.
- The show's infamous host: Lena Lett
- The Diva of Town: Shiqueeta Lee
- The Party Girl of Town: Ba'Naka (Voted Best Drag Queen in DC 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016)
- Washington’s own Beyonce: Riley Knoxx
- The Starlett of Town: Miss Tatianna (of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 and AllStars 2)
- Newly crowned “Best Drag Queen in DC 2017”: Sasha Adams Sanchez
Bear Happy Hour
On Fridays, Town hosted the DC Bear Crue Happy Hour from 5-10pm. DC’s scruffiest Happy Hour was an event for The BEAR Community and their guests.
Town&Country
Town&Country was DC's event for line dancing, two-stepping, and socializing every other Saturday.
At the conclusion of our Saturday night event,
on June 30th, 2018,
Town closed its doors forever.
It has been an unbelievable honor to host some of the most amazing people
for some of the most amazing parties in DC over the last decade.
We are absolutely heartbroken that it has come to an end.
